The phrase “Phata Poster Nikla Hero” became a part of popular jargon in India following the release of Naseruddin Shah’s 1988 hit “Hero Hiralal”.

The movie is all set to release this Friday on Sept 20, 2013.

PPNH Story

The phrase is all set to get a whole new meaning though Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film that bears the same name. The new film follows the antic of a wannabe actor named Vishwas Rao who is mistaken for a super cop.

Rao is no hero and is mortally afraid of violence but he decides to go along with the ruse anyway which of course leads to plenty of hilarity and the necessary twists and turns.

Rao cannot afford to get injured and is very protective of his face which makes the fake cop routine even funnier. Ileana D’Cruz plays Kaajal in the movie who is an overzealous social worker that local cops have nicknamed “Complaint Kaajal”.

Kaajal is the one that unwittingly drags Rao into pretending to be a real cop. The plot is given an extra dose of humor by the fact that Padmini Kolhapure who plays Vishwas’ mother Savitri wants him to become a cop and their strong emotional bond forces Rao to go on pretending that he is a real cop.

Darshan Jariwala plays the adorable ACP Khare while Saurabh Shukla plays gangster Gundappa Das who pulls of Austin Powers-type villainy in the film.

Being an action comedy, the movie features plenty of filmy dhishoom-dhishoom sequences that are clearly inspired by Jackie Chan movies.

The movie looks set to bring the comedy of errors genre back in vogue in Bollywood and industry watchers are predicting that it would do rather well at the box office even if it doesn’t break any collections records.
